The IQB conducts its research activities in accordance with the principles of good scientific practice. The IQB applies the HU Statute on Good Scientific Practice accordingly.

Open Science

As one of Germany’s leading institutes for educational research, the IQB is committed to the principles of open science. The aim is to make educational research transparent, collaborative, and accessible in the long term.

Points of Contact for Good Scientific Practice 🔗

The Ombuds Committee at the IQB provides guidance on good scientific practice, raises awareness of the guidelines among all academic staff at the IQB, and mediates in cases of conflict, provided they do not involve serious misconduct. Typical cases include, for example, whether staff members’ research contributions have been appropriately acknowledged, delays in responses from co-authors, and other questions relating to authorship.

Ombudspersons and Committee for Academic Misconduct at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU)

Academic staff at the IQB may also contact the ombudspersons at the HU regarding questions of good scientific practice or in suspected cases of academic misconduct. In cases of suspected serious breaches of the HU Statute on Good Scientific Practice, responsibility lies with the HU ombudspersons and the Committee for Academic Misconduct.

Ombuds Committee for Research Integrity in Germany

Researchers seeking advice or with general questions about good scientific practice may also contact the nationwide Ombuds Committee for Research Integrity in Germany (OWID), appointed by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The OWID provides advice and support to researchers across Germany on questions and conflicts relating to good scientific practice and research integrity.
