Career Development at the IQB

Academic Career đź”—

The IQB supports the professional development of researchers at all career stages.

At the IQB, researchers can take the next steps in their academic careers through doctoral training or in a postdoctoral position.

Supporting academic career development is a key priority for the IQB. The institute supports academic staff in preparing for and successfully taking the next step in their careers. They gain experience in planning, carrying out, analysing, and publishing the IQB’s studies, and in working at the intersection between educational research, educational policy, education administration and educational practice.

The institute offers in-house training in research methods, analytical methods and academic writing, as well as the opportunity to participate in the academies offered by the Research Data Centre (FDZ) at the IQB. Colloquia and special interest groups provide forums for academic exchange within the institute. For their work, IQB employees can use the datasets available at the institute and its Research Data Centre (FDZ), as well as the libraries of the institute and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. They are encouraged and supported in presenting their research at conferences and other events dedicated to academic exchange.

The IQB also places great importance on providing favourable conditions for balancing academic work and family responsibilities, for example through family-friendly working hours.

To further support preparation for the next career steps, academic staff at the IQB can apply for the following programmes:
