In addition to analytical methods and techniques, this unit examines conceptual and technical procedures required for large-scale educational assessments of student achievement. When planning and preparing large-scale educational assessments and analysing the resulting data, a range of specific factors must be taken into account to draw valid conclusions. These include sample clustering, complex test designs, and different types of missing data. To this end, the unit conducts its own studies and works closely with a range of institutions at state level to optimise and align analytical methods.

Tutorials and Workshops

The unit provides comprehensive support for researchers and organises regular workshops. Relevant content is prepared and documented, and made available on the website in the form of tutorials and self-guided workshops.

Another key focus is collecting, managing, providing and documenting data internally, ensuring a reliable evidence base for research. In addition to these methodological focuses, the unit also has a substantive focus on the IQB Trends in Student Achievement.
