Location
The Institute for Educational Quality Improvement (IQB) is located in the heart of Germany’s vibrant capital, on the historic Campus Nord of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Luisenstraße lies between Berlin’s main station (Hauptbahnhof) and the Friedrichstraße S-Bahn and U-Bahn station.
The bus stop Charité-Campus Mitte is just outside the IQB building. The stops Robert-Koch-Platz and Invalidenpark are a few minutes’ walk away.
How to find us
From Hauptbahnhof/Main station (exit “Europaplatz”), by bus
Take bus 147 (direction Märkisches Museum or Ostbahnhof) and get off at the second stop, which is Charité - Campus Mitte. The building Luisenstraße 56 is diagonally opposite the bus stop on the other side of the street. Journey time: approx. 3-5 minutes.
Walk from Hauptbahnhof/Main station (exit "Washingtonplatz")
Leave the main station through the Washingtonplatz exit. Cross the Washingtonplatz square and turn left into Rahel-Hirsch-Straße (later Kapelle-Ufer). Cross the bridge and then turn left into Reinhardtstraße. The second crossing street is Luisenstraße, turn left. The IQB is on the right after approx. 300 metres. Walking time: approx. 15 minutes.
From Friedrichstraße station (exit "Friedrichstraße"), by bus
Take bus 147 (direction Hauptbahnhof or Leopoldplatz) and travel four stops to Charité - Campus Mitte. Journey time: approx. 6 minutes.
Walk from Friedrichstraße station
Take the Albrechtstraße exit and cross the bridge that leads over the Spree. Continue straight ahead into Albrechtstraße. Cross Reinhardtstraße, continue walking straight ahead and then follow the road to the left into Schumannstraße (past the Deutsches Theater). Schumannstraße crosses Luisenstraße, where you turn right. The IQB is on the right after about 200 metres. Walking time: approx. 15 minutes.
From Airport BER in Schönefeld
From the railway station "Flughafen BER – Terminal 1-2" you can take various regional trains or the S-Bahn (S9, direction Spandau) to the stations Friedrichstraße or Hauptbahnhof without changing trains. From there, choose one of the routes as described above.
Journey time to Hauptbahnhof: approx. 35 minutes (regional train) or 45 minutes (S-Bahn).
Information on public transport in Berlin
The IQB, Hauptbahnhof and Friedrichstraße stations are all in Zone A of Berlin's public transport network. If you are travelling to Berlin by train and your rail ticket is a City Ticket, you can use public transport from Hauptbahnhof or Friedrichstraße to your final destination in Berlin free of charge (only once, plus once more for your return travel on the day of departure). Otherwise you will need to buy a short-trip ticket to get from either of the two stations to the IQB.
The BER Airport is in Zone C, which means you will need to buy a Zone ABC ticket in order to get to the IQB. Single tickets, 4-trip tickets and day tickets are available from ticket machines at all stations or from bus drivers.
