How to get to the Research Data Centre (FDZ) at the IQB

The Research Data Centre (Forschungsdatenzentrum, FDZ) at the IQB belongs to the IQB's Secondary Offices in Hannoversche Straße 19 (H19).

Location

The IQB's Secondary Office is located on the 1st floor of the office building Hannoversche Straße 19, diagonally opposite the university restaurant "Mensa Nord" of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

The two entrances to the ground floor foyer are located at the pointed end of the building, one of which can be reached via a small bridge, the other facing the neighbouring schoolyard). Two elevators are available next to the staircase.

How to find us

From the main station ("Hauptbahnhof", exit "Europaplatz"), by bus or tramway

  • Take Bus 142 (direction Ostbahnhof) or Bus 245 (direction Robert-Koch-Platz):
    Get off at the bus stop Robert-Koch-Platz  (second stop after Hauptbahnhof and Invalidenpark).The stop is situated already on Hannoversche Straße. Hannoversche Straße makes a sharp bend here, and is joined by Hessische Straße from the side. A few metres after the bend, virtually as an extension of Hessische Straße, you will reach the building Hannoversche Straße 19. The two entrance doors are at the far end of the building.
    Journey time: approx. 4 minutes bus ride to Robert-Koch-Platz plus 4 minutes walk.
  • Alternatively, you can use Bus 147 (direction Märkisches Museum or Ostbahnhof) or any of the tram lines M5 (direction Hohenschönhausen, Zingster Straße), M8 (direction Ahrensfelde/Stadtgrenze) or M10 (direction S+U Warschauer Straße):
    Get off at the first stop after Hauptbahnhof, which is Invalidenpark. Approx. 50 metres further in the direction of travel, turn right at the traffic lights into Luisenstraße. After another 100 metres turn left into Hannoversche Straße. Then refer to the route described above (Bus 142 or 245).
    Journey time: approx. 4 minutes bus ride to Invalidenpark plus 7 minutes walk.

Walk from Hauptbahnhof (exit "Europaplatz")

Leave the station building at the Europaplatz exit, cross the square and turn right into Invalidenstraße. Follow this street until you reach Hessische Straße. Hessische Straße joins Hannoversche Straße after about 150 metres. The building Hannoversche Straße 19 is on the opposite side of the street.
Walking time: approx. 20 minutes.

From Friedrichstraße station (exit "Friedrichstraße")

Take the underground U6 (direction Alt-Tegel) and travel two stops to Naturkundemuseum. Take the exit to Invalidenstraße and walk along Invalidenstraße towards the Museum für Naturkunde (natural history museum). After about 300 metres, turn left into Hessische Straße. Hessische Straße joins Hannoversche Straße after about 150 metres. The building Hannoversche Straße 19 is on the opposite side of the street.
Journey time: approx. 3 minutes travel time plus 9 minutes walk.

From Airport BER in Schönefel

From the railway station "Flughafen BEAR - Terminal 1-2" you can take various regional trains or the S-Bahn (S9, direction Spandau) to the stations Friedrichstraße or Hauptbahnhof without changing trains. From there, choose one of the routes as described above.
Journey time to Hauptbahnhof: approx. 35 minutes (regional train) or 45 minutes (S-Bahn).

Information on public transport in Berlin

The IQB, Hauptbahnhof and Friedrichstraße stations are all in Zone A of Berlin's public transport network. If you are travelling to Berlin by train and your rail ticket is a City Ticket, you can use public transport from Hauptbahnhof or Friedrichstraße to your final destination in Berlin free of charge (only once, plus once more for your return travel on the day of departure). Otherwise you will need to buy a short-trip ticket to get from either of the two stations to the IQB. The BER Airport is in Zone C, which means you will need to buy a Zone ABC ticket in order to get to the IQB. Single tickets, 4-trip tickets and day tickets are available from ticket machines at all stations or from bus drivers.
